Judith Giers

Judy—currently chair of the Oregon State Bar's Appellate Section—began her legal career clerking for Judge William L. Richardson, then a presiding judge on the Oregon Court of Appeals. Upon leaving the court, Judy worked as a trial and appellate lawyer with Harrang Long Gary Rudnick PC, eventually becoming a shareholder in the firm. Judy has also taught constitutional law, appellate writing and advocacy, federal civil motions practice and other JD and LLM courses at the University of Oregon School of Law. Before opening Giers Olsson PC, Judy was part of the litigation team at Hershner Hunter LLP and managed that firm’s appellate practice. Her current work at Giers Olsson PC allows Judy to focus her practice on the work she loves best—civil and criminal appeals.

David Olsson

David began his legal career clerking for Judge Mary Deits, who later became chief judge on the Oregon Court of Appeals. After working briefly for the Frohnmayer Deatherage law firm in Medford, David entered the world of administrative appeals at the Oregon Employment Appeals Board (EAB). David worked for the EAB as a staff attorney and as a pro tempore Board member for twelve years. During David’s time at the EAB, the Department of Labor characterized the board as “among the best performing higher authority units in the nation.” Working at Giers Olsson PC allows David to practice law in his favorite areas—administrative and civil appeals—and to use his business skills to run the business side of the practice as the firm’s administrator.
